A Lau is the Hawaiian word for "leaf" and hala is a Hawaiian tree. Many parts of the hala tree are used but especially the leaves. They weave the leaves together to make useful items such as baskets. These Vintage Lauhala Boxes fit one inside of the other to enclose whatever contents you'd like as long as they are dry as they are not waterproof.
